Our Story
In September of 2021, His Eminence Nicolae of the Romanian Orthodox Metropolia of the Americas convened a meeting of interested individuals to discuss the beginning of an Orthodox High School in the northwest suburbs. With 3 area private Orthodox or Hellenic elementary schools in this geographic area, parents began to request Orthodox education during the high school grades. In addition, there had been continual interest in a Pan Orthodox high school in the northwest suburbs of the City of Chicago for many decades.
A small group began to investigate the possible opportunities regarding starting a Pan Orthodox High School and acknowledged the following items as a starting point:
- Gathering support of the different hierarchies of the Greek, Romanian, Albanian, Russian, Antiochian and Serbian Orthodox Dioceses.
- Formation of a board of education consisting of members with various talents necessary to opening a high school and implementing a comprehensive business plan.
- Securing a location with an appropriate building to operate a high school.
A business plan was created and shared with the six Orthodox hierarchs in the Chicagoland area. With great joy and excitement, the Three Hierarchs Orthodox Christian High School opened in August, 2023 with the support of the following Orthodox hierarchs:
- His Eminence, Metropolitan Nicolae of the Romanian Orthodox Metropolia
- Bishop Anthony, Diocese of Toledo and Midwest (Antiochian Archdiocese)
- Archbishop Peter, Diocese of Chicago and Mid - America (ROCOR)
- Bishop Longin, Serbian Orthodox Diocese of New Gracanica - Midwestern America
- Archbishop Daniel of the Diocese of the Midwest – Orthodox Church of America
